Use your feet

San Diego has miles and miles of level walking, jogging and bike paths. They provide the best and most economical way to see the sites. Balboa Park boasts wonderful museums and gardens. The downtown area is best seen from a path that follows from the Convention Center and Marina all the way to the Naval ships. You pass numerous shops and restaurants, including many concentrated in Seaport Village. And my favorite...the path that circles Mission Bay.

I agree. I prefer to stay downtown just for that reason.
