Pickpocketed in Buenos Aires

Walking from Puerto Madero to Calle Florida, I suddenly felt moisture on my head and back--like a big bird dropping. My husband turned to help. A couple who had just passed us going the other way showed up offering to help with napkins and a bottle of water, then suddenly left. My husband immediately realized they had taken his wallet out of his buttoned back pocket while he tried to help me, but they had disappeared.

Lesson: Even if the stuff is nasty (which this was), don't stop to deal with it when it happens--keep going until you're away from those helpful folks.

Identical experience... except we had been warned by our hotel and my wife -- sharper than I was -- was onto what was happening after about a minute or two. In our case, they got nothing. This was the only negative expereince we had on our trip. Anyone else reading this... be forewarned!
