I've stayed there many times and it certainly has lovely views, but it is also a major convention hotel right near the convention center and right next to an equally large Marriott. That can mean lots of noise, long waits for elevators, and far too many lines for some of the dining venues. If there isn't a large convention it is great but beware!

What I liked most about the Hyatt Grand is that is it is easy walking distance to great restaurants and nightlife. The views at the Top of the Hyatt quite possibly could be the best in San Diego!
