This is the most important Jewish Community building still standing today. It was the primary synagogue for the Jewish community in Shanghai. It was used from 1920 to 1952, except for about two years during the war. It was founded by Sir Jacob Sassoon (from Hongkong) in memory of his wife. It is now occupied by Shanghai Education Bureau. It recorded real and unforgettable story and the episodes of history of the Jews in Shanghai which they cherish and recall with nostalgia.
