Travel to Frankfurt airport may be fewer stops and more convenient from the US than flying into Berlin. The train station AT THE AIRPORT, has trains every hour to Berlin. There is one train connection, depending on which train you take. One train connects at the Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof; the other connects at Hannover. Takes 4 1/4 hours and much more relaxing than another security line at Heathrow or Frankfurt.
This is a good tip. I have often taken the train from Frankfurt airport to many destinations in Germany. The German rail website can show connections and fares, sell tickets, and book seats. There is an English version. http://www.bahn.de/p/view/international/englisch/international_guests.shtml
