Advance Knowledge

Los Angeles is a very spread out city, so having a general idea of where things are that you might like to see can be helpful. Leafing through something like a Frommer's guide befor arrival can be very useful.

I like to use the oneline mapping tools to see what is in the area and to see how far it is from the hotel. I first map the hotel on http://local.live.com/ and then I lookup the places I want to go to and get direction or contact information. Also, with the mapping site above the images with the street superimposed really make it easy to find your way around

This hotel is the greatest! I was there in May and really enjoyed my time there.

Los Angeles is definitely a very spread out city and this can be quite daunting for those not used to the area. The tip from CaliforniaDude is great! Also try AAA for local maps and information.

I stayed (practically lived) in this hotel back when it was the Westin Century Plaza (in the 1990s) and the Park Hyatt (now something else) was two doors down. I always liked the Century Plaza better, and what Hyatt has done to it is phenomenal. Beautiful property, much better than even the old Park Hyatt was.
