...couldn't be easier, and it's very inexpensive. The airport train station is directly below the airport. From there, you're good to go into town, and anywhere in Switzerland and beyond. It takes less than 10 minutes to get to the main station in Zurich, the Hauptbahnhof. From there, trams radiat out to other parts of the city. Also, as befits its name, both commuter and long-haul trains radiate out, as well. There is a huge, classic, sign indicating trains, destinations and times. You will see take-away food stands and cafes. Best of all? Downstairs is a virutal city of restauranta, grocery and service stores. (by this time, if it's raining outside, you have no reason to be wet yet. It's all sheltered and clean, but bustling!
There is no reason to rent a car in Switzerland, especially in the cities. Once you get to the Zurich train station you can take a tram to within a block of the Hyatt. You can take the tram to the lake boat launch, the zoo or any place you need to go. for those that are environmentally sensitive the trolley busses are a great way to go to places.
At the airport train station, DO NOT bother to queue up at the ticket counter -- the far better alternative is to buy your ticket at any of the touch-screen ticket machines: usually no queuing, accepts all major credit cards and cash, gives you all the destinations, ....
I had a recent 12 hour layover in Zurich. I just took the train in the city center and jsut walked. hauptbahnhof strasse is wonderful all the way down to the lake then I walked to the old town.
It a great way to spend a day. Eating, drinking, shopping.
