Traditional shopping
The best place for shopping is Amman's main suq (market) in the town centre sells everything from pots and pans to gold. For handicraft, which includes pottery, weaving, embroidery, glass blowing and jewellery, there are a number of handicraft centres. Bani Hamida, just off Rainbow Street, has beautiful traditional rugs woven by bedouin women, and next door River Jordan Design sells cushions covers, wall hangings, embroided waistcoats and quilts- both sponsored by the Save The Children Fund and are located in beautiful renovated old houses.
