Best tip I ever received before travelling around Asia on business: Always ensure that you get a hotel business card from the concierge before heading out for the day. The card should have the name, address, and phone number of the hotel in the local language. Many taxi drivers in Asia don't speak English, so being able to show them where you want to go will save a lot of time and aggravation.
This is very true. I always forget to ask for the business cards but the times I do remember it definitely makes it easier. Sometimes the bellmen at the hotel will offer it to you or the taxi driver before you getting in - that's the best in case you forget!
